At the organization's annual State of the Region summit on February 25, 2011, the North Carolina's Northeast Commission recognized Committee of 1000 partner A.R. Chesson Construction Company Inc. for the company's outstanding contribution to the economic development of the northeast region.
The event that brought together regional and state leaders in education, government, agriculture, tourism and commerce was held at the Sen. Bob Martin Eastern Agricultural Center in Williamston.
The NCNC's Committee of 1000 is a nonprofit corporation that works in collaboration with the NCNC to market the northeast region as a location for new and expanding business and tourism development.
The Committee is the NCNC's arm to acquire, develop, and sell industrial sites in the region as well as install utilities and other infrastructure needed to support economic development throughout the region.
