Groundbreaking of New SPCA in Elizabeth City

Many hands were available to dig in at the ground breaking ceremony for the renovation of a SPCA facility. The future shelter will located off the Pitts Chapel and Weeksville roads repurposing a building the SPCA purchased in September 2011.  The future location, which has approximately 6,000 square feet of space, will be at least three times larger than the current one. Funding has come from donations, a U.S. Department of Agriculture grant, and a long-term/low-interest USDA loan.  John Spruill is the Project Manager and  Brad May is the superintendent.
