A. R. Chesson Construction has been selected as Construction Manager to facilitate renovations to the second floor of the Edenton Town Hall Building enticing business expansion into eastern NC. The renovated space will be occupied by Standard Medical Acceptance (SMA) Corporation. SMA plans to create 32 jobs with an investment of more than $552,000 over the next three years in Edenton. SMA is a privately held, New York based company that is a leader in valuation and collateralization of health care receivables for the nation’s leading banks. The company will be locating its new operations center in Edenton and plans to expand and eventually relocate their main data processing facilities in eastern North Carolina.
Renovations to the existing building will include upgrades for compliance with current life safety, energy, and accessibility codes. An elevator will be added for ADA access to the building’s second floor. The project also includes enlarged restrooms, layout changes, and cosmetic improvements. Construction will begin January 2015.
